Beta User Guide

Everything you need to get started with the SteadyPoint beta: setting up the M5Stick sensor, running your first session, and sharing feedback that shapes what comes next.

Sensor setup

The M5Stick sensor

The sensor is a small wrist-worn accelerometer that streams motion data to the app over Bluetooth. Here’s how to power it on, pair it, and position it for a good reading.

Power on & off

Press the tab-like button on the lower-left side panel to turn the sensor on (with the M5 logo facing you). To turn it off, hold that same side button on the front until the screen goes dark.

Pairing with the app

When the sensor screen reads “Waiting for App,” it’s ready to pair. In the SteadyPoint app, tap Connect device, choose TremorMonitor, then press Pair.

Positioning & securing

Wear the sensor where your tremor feels strongest — a finger, wrist, or anywhere along the forearm. During beta testing, it’s also useful to try spots that don’t feel tremorous, so you can compare readings. Secure it with a rubber band, a sock or compression sleeve, or simply hold it in your hand.

Power & charging

Charge through the USB-C port beneath the M5 button. A full charge lasts up to two hours of continuous use, and you can keep the sensor plugged in during a session if you prefer.

Using the app

The SteadyPoint web app

The app runs in your browser as a progressive web app. For the beta, Chrome on an Apple laptop or Android phone gives the most reliable experience.

Accessing the app

Open steadypoint-app.kaivo.com in Chrome. You can bookmark it or add it to your home screen so it opens like a native app.

The first time you use it, you’ll create an account with your Google or Apple ID, or by entering an email address and password. If you sign up with email, check your inbox for a confirmation link before signing in.

Connecting the sensor

With the sensor showing “Waiting for App,” tap Connect device in the upper-right corner, select TremorMonitor, and press Pair. The sensor LED will show “App connected!” and the button will turn green. If the connection drops while you navigate the app, just reconnect — this is normal during beta.

Starting a session

Tap Configure New Session to choose sound on/off, an activity type (Meditative, Engaged, or Active), and a duration (1, 5, or 10 minutes). Or use a Quick Start preset:

  • Meditative · 1 minute · sound on
  • Engaged · 5 minutes · no sound
  • Active · 10 minutes · no sound

During a session

The session screen shows the time remaining, an Intensity Score circle, Dominant Frequency and Severity indicators, and live x/y/z waveform graphs. You can end the session at any time by tapping End Session.

Session details

After a session, you’ll see a SteadyPoint score — roughly the inverse of tremor intensity. (It only appears for sessions of 30 seconds or more.) You’ll also see the dominant frequency, session duration, an intensity-over-time graph, and an optional note field. Use the notes to remind yourself what you were doing; future updates will let you categorize and analyze them.

Analytics & settings

The Analytics section gathers statistics across sessions; tap See history > for full details on past runs. In Settings you can connect or disconnect the sensor, set a default duration, turn sonification on or off, and clear local data (the last option isn’t important during beta).

How to help us learn

The beta is most useful when you explore different ways of using SteadyPoint. There are no wrong sessions — just run, observe, and tell us what you notice.

Run varied sessions

Try different lengths, activity types, and durations. It’s perfectly fine — even encouraged — to simulate activities or tremor levels. We care about both the sensor’s sensitivity and whether you find the overall concept valuable.

Review your data

After each session, look at the stats. Over time, open the Analytics view to spot patterns across multiple sessions and see what tends to lower your tremor intensity.

Areas we’d love feedback on

  • Could you secure the M5Stick where your tremor is strongest?
  • Is the app intuitive and easy to use?
  • Do sonic or visual feedback feel useful to you?
  • Did any patterns in the data surprise you?
